Dr. Shane Shafi emphasizes evidence-based care and helping patients understand their treatment options and expected outcomes. His approach considers each patient’s needs when planning care.
Education and specialty training.
Dr. Shafi earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at Temple University’s Kornberg School of Dentistry, graduating magna cum laude. He then completed a three-year residency in periodontology and oral implantology and earned a Master of Science degree. Periodontology is the dental specialty concerned with the gums and structures that support the teeth.
Clinical interests.
Dr. Shafi’s training includes implant placement, bone grafting, sinus augmentation, gum grafting, crown lengthening and periodontal plastic surgery. His work includes periodontal disease, implant surgery, bone and soft-tissue regeneration and complex full-mouth rehabilitation. Particular interests include digitally planned implant care, immediate implant placement and complex regenerative procedures.
A collaborative approach.
Dr. Shafi works as a traveling periodontist within a multilocation dental organization, collaborating with general dentists and other specialists to coordinate patient care.
Beyond dentistry.
Dr. Shafi enjoys time with his wife and daughter, fishing, skiing and family travel.
